Calvary Chapel Bacolod story

Well, as most of you know, I am the chief for the Okinawa Marine newspaper. I recently sent a news reporter down there to cover a news story about gifts being delivered by Marines and sailors to 14 nonprofit organizations down there. I copyedited the story and released it to Stars and Stripes (www.estripes.com) and to the Marine Corps Web site. It is covered with Calvary Chapel stuff and pictures and quotes. Praise the Lord. No manipulation on my part, just the Lord's blessing. The CC Bacolod Pastor Joe Rosmarino is quoted in it and pictures of him are above. Here is some of the story:
The service members arrived in Bacolod at approximately 12 p.m. aboard a KC-130 “Hercules” piloted by a crew from Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 152, Marine Air Group 36, 1st Marine Air Wing. After the service members unloaded more than half the goods from the plane, they enjoyed a Christmas play performed by the residents of the Calvary Chapel Bacolod Orphanage.
“(United States service members) came from Okinawa to bless us with these gifts,” said CC Bacolod Pastor Joe Rosmarino, the founder of the orphanage and retired Marine gunnery sergeant. “We want to bless (the service members) with a (Christmas) program we put together and give them some gifts.”

Christmas Parties

Merry Christmas to everyone. We have been very busy and blessed this year as many friends have come together for fellowship and fun. Souhki and Derek Forbes have their family here from the states and they have been a blessing to us. They have made cookies, gingerbread houses and had a party at their house..Take care all. Pictured above is a photo that we will be sending to everyone in cards this Monday. The beautiful girl with Rafael is Mylee, a girl who Rafael loves to be with...:) He is a little ham. The boys are hangin with Jayson, Souhki's brother. They love the video games. More photos can be seen at http://community.webshots.com/user/makiyatorres All4Good

Surgery and Christmas

Well, Rafael had his eye duct surgery today. It lasted about 30 minutes and the doctor said he tried to remove the blockage from his eye but had a hard time. We are hoping this will fix the problem he has. He has a tear come out of his eye all of the time. To keep it on a lighter note...I put some photos of the boys and Mona with Sandra and Souhki...from this past week. God bless you all...Praise the Lord!!

Promotion

It is official. We received the word this morning that I was selected to the rank of Master Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. It has been a challenging few years here, but God put me through some serious trials with different leaders and family decisions...I feel that it was for good to prepare me for this rank. I know that we can do nothing as Christians apart from Christ Jesus and the best part is we know that God promotes. Passage Psalm 75:6-7
"6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. 7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another. Thank you all for your prayers and guidance in our life. Thank you Lord for the promotion.

We have more, but will post it later. Thank you so much for your prayers and for your friendship. You will notice a young man Ikuo playing with Rafael at the end of the video. He was very kind. His girlfriend Hitome really helped us out a lot too. They are coming to the church event tonight as they came to Okinawa yesterday. Again God worked ALL4GOOD.

Ishigaki Island trip

Well, it has been a wonderful day on a small island...part of Okinawa, known as Ishigaki Island. It is about a 40 minute flight Southwest of Okinawa near Taiwan. We traveled by boat today to get to 2 other islands, and by ox to get to another one. We also rode a glass bottom boat to see fish and watched people get sick. You see pictures of what we rod on and cute pics of Rafael...he had a blast. Here is a link to all of our photos from the day http://community.webshots.com/user/makiyatorres One island only had 7 people on it...another has 350 and another has about 2000. Another island had star shaped sand. Can you believe it? It was beautiful. Here is a link to the island info http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e7201.html Mona actually talked about building a church there...I wonder who shares the gospel with them. We miss Brandon and Anthony though. Will be back home Sunday.

Michael (Brick Wall) Darbouze

The Darbouze family is departing and it will be a sad goodbye. (left to right) Jomar, wife; Danaisha, daughter; Michael; their son David. We have had a great time witnessing to those in the office. One of my happiest times in work was spending days sharing what Christ was doing in our lives and in the Marines' lives around us. We will never forget Trevor Carlee and the time we realized that he changed and we were confused. Cpl. Darbouze and I laughed when we found out that he prayed to received Christ a month prior to us asking what happened to him. The Darbouze family has been the role model for family and living for Christ. We love them as family and we will miss them. ALL4GOOD

It is great to see the smiles and life of those sold out to the ministry in the Philippines. A WEEK OF PRAISE

It has been a very busy weekend for our family. We have been to a birthday party, went to men's prayer, guitar practice, worshiped in church, went to a wedding and had a harvest festival tonight on the 31st of October. (SEE PHOTOS AT http://community.webshots.com/album/443893537FAVHUC Our big highlight was seeing our close friend Souhki Forbes become a citizen (pictured with husband Derek in blue shirt) They always love to be with the boys and always teach them well. We have met so many people and have been blessed to talk to each one and share our lives and talk about what an awesome church we go to. We are glad to hear that Pastor Pol in the Philippines did get the money he needed to move into the new property. They already had 26 people pray to receive Christ in their first Sunday there. Please continue to pray for him. We had a great men's prayer with my friend Ernest...you see him in the picture...I am pointing at him...he is from New Mexico. My friend of 17 years now...Don Fenton....married Ayano. We had the opportunity to minister in song with the Praise Band and they let me sing by myself with the guitar...I was nervous...if you want the video..let me know. My teacher is with me in one of the pics. His name is Emil..One more thing...Noah walks..YES!!! Take care and til next time may we all see the GOOD in ALL...

WONDERFUL MEETING

Well, it is Saturday morning and I spent the entire day with Pastor Pol and his family and their church workers. Folks, words cannot explain the wonder of a family sold out to serve and love their Savior....what a true blessing and conviction it was to see such beauty displayed in attitudes, demeanor, posture, dress and the love of life and sharing about how Christ has changes so many lives across their area of Caloocan, Philippines...in the Fairview Province...see Googleearth.com for a map. Pastor Pol showed me their vision for a bigger area. Please look at the photos at http://community.webshots.com/album/482866377zBKVbc . Please pray that they would receive support for this property. They only need 400 dollars to get it and 200 dollars a month to continue and someday start a bible college. I also recorded a lot of video...Please pray for Pol's ministry to the lost and their hope to have church property to accomodate the growth. It is only 200 dollars a month to run a full scale place and start a Bible college here. Ohh, may God stir someones heart to give out of their abundance...a good Proverb in the Bible says that when we give to the poor, God repays fully. For now...All4Good...to those who love Christ...Larry

Pol has children who love the Lord and it is a blessing to be here. I wish I could bring the family here to have full time sharing with all...Please continue to pray for Pastor Pol and his vision to see a new building in his area for all those who are being saved...even his children share the Love of Christ ....WOW!!! Praise God...will see you again tomorrow...WHAT's up Beechwood...send someone soon...

Mona and the kids are back

The family is back and I am so happy. We immediately went to a Russ Lee concert. He has 11 number one Christian hits and is a great guy. He was ordained by Johnny Hunt in Woodstock, Ga. We enjoyed his music and the time he spent with everyone. Tom Ruiz and his band, 5,000 fed, also jammed and we loved listening and worshiping with them. I will post more pictures of the family soon. Please pray for my safe trip to the Philippines...I will be finally seeing Pol Ibanez, my brother in Christ, pastor and friend for several years. God bless you all...

Back from Tokyo

"We either evangelize or fossilize," said Pastor Johnny Hunt from First Baptist Church Woodstock. I am listening to him now as I sit alone in the living room waiting for my family to return from Tokyo. We had a wonderful time there and had an opportunity to encourage and pray with our friends Kevin and Kayoko Tinker and their daughter Christine and son Zane. What a wonderful time we had there. I will post pictures soon...praise the Lord
